How to get an email alert every time a particular Twitter user tweets
A colleague asked me if there is a way to get tweets sent by a particular user via email. Since Twitter turned off its RSS support this has become less obvious, but here’s a solution:
1. Use this genius Twitter to RSS script created by Armit Agarwal / labnol.
2. Take the RSS feed and add it to Feedly (an RSS reader). I added the feed to a collection that I called ‘Twitter’.
3. Go to IFTTT (If This Then That) and create a recipe: If Feedly (new article from category), then email / Gmail.
Note that there’s a delay of up to 30 minutes between the time the user tweets and the email arriving so there are limitations to using this as an alert system for breaking news.
Alternative options
1. Go to TwitRSS.me and enter the @handle of the user you want to receive email alerts from.

2. Add the RSS feed to Feedly (as above).
3. Use IFTTT to create a recipe for if Feedly, then email / gmail (as above).
I tried the two options and also tried using an RSS to email recipe in IFTTT.
After testing, I’ve concluded that labnol’s Google Script to Feedly option is the fastest and most reliable.
How to get a push alert to your phone when a particular user tweets
The easiest way to get an alert when a particular Twitter user tweets it to use the push notifications option in the Twitter app.
Go to the Twitter app, find the user, tap the person logo (circled in black), tap 'turn on notifications’.
